Natural Beauty

Post for Wednesday, August 4

While we were in Portland we went to Washington Park and saw the most beautiful display of roses I have ever seen in my life at the Rose Garden there. These roses, Heart of Gold Hybrid Tea the orange and pink, and Funkuhr Hybrid Tea the yellow and pink variety were my favorite. The sign on the yellow one said it in not in production :( The natural colors are so beautiful.

Candid Portrait Shot

Post for Tuesday, August 3

This is my beautiful niece Alli. We met up with my brother's family in Portland. I haven't seen Alli in 2 years; she'd grown quite a bit! I love this picture of her. I was just snapping pictures and caught her before she could "pose" with a great smile! All her smiles are great, but I especially like this one.

Velvet Hills

Monday, August 2
hmmm (Happy Birthday Scott!) On the drive out of town (Sutter, California) I had my mom take me on a trip down memory lane. She showed me her old high school, swimming pool, the store she went to buy meat for a barbecue her and her friends raised money to do, and much more. One of the things I think is beautiful about the brown grass in California (though I prefer my Midwestern neon green grass) is seeing a lone tree in the wave of velvety grass standing on the rolling foothills.

Sutter Buttes

This was taken at my grandparents property in Sutter, CA. We are in a hotel in Montana right now with wifi, I don't know when I will have access to the internet for about a week... unless campgrounds in the Black Hills happen to have outlets and wifi at their tent sites. So until next Sunday evening probably!

mmm... peaches at the picnic

Isaac loves fruit! Especially juicy fruit (not the gum). He loves watermelon, plums, peaches, and grapes. When we were in California he enjoyed some yummy peaches. he would just grab as much as he could and start sucking on it. I had to get rid of the pits fast or I'm sure he would have tried to eat that too!

Sunbeam

This is my... second cousin (my cousin's daughter) Hannah. She is such a cute little girl. She turned three this year and reminded me a lot of some of the Sunbeams (three year olds) at our church in Downers Grove that I taught. I love that age! She was very smiley and a happy girl the whole day. And it was a pretty long day. This is when we went to the place in the Sierra's where James Marshall discovered gold.

Little feet

We stopped in Nevada when Isaac was getting a little restless and I thought the cracked ground looked cool and Isaac's cute chubby baby feet in his flip flops was perfect.
